Statement of Solidarity with Israel
In light of the October 7 attack on Israel, our concern and empathy are with our colleagues and friends in Israel. With shock and horror, we have learned about the atrocities carried out by the terrorists. The news about innocent civilians, including students, faculty, and retirees at our partner institutions, murdered is sickening, the news about babies and children, disabled persons, and the elderly being murdered or taken hostage is unbearable.
As researchers, we are committed to objectivity and considering multiple points of view. However, the murdering of civilians, taking of hostages and the continued pledge to eliminate a whole country can never be justified.
The IPN stands with its colleagues in Israel, the Israeli people, and all those suffering from the war Hamas inflicted. We hope that stability and safety can be restored soon and that the hostages will be safely returned.
