The JURE (Junior Researchers of EARLI) conference took place in Seville from June 24 to 28, 2024. Junior researchers presented their research under the heading “Education and the Need for Dynamic Solutions: Shaping the Future of the Field”. This included Dr. Lisa Benckwitz, IPN research scientist, who received the Best of JURE Roundtable Award for her outstanding roundtable session “The Role of Family Characteristics in a Motivation and Achievement Intervention Study”.

Their contribution had previously been selected as part of the Best of JURE Session, in which the three contributions with the best results in the review process took part in three categories (Paper Session, Poster Session and Roundtable Session). A jury evaluated all contributions and selected the winners, who then received their prizes during the reception.

Dr. Lisa Benckwitz submitted her award-winning paper with Dr. Bastian Carstensen, also a research scientist at the IPN. She examined the effectiveness of a mathematics intervention consisting of a combination of remedial teaching and a digital learning program. Special focus was placed on the question of whether family characteristics such as socioeconomic status, math activities in the family and parental interest in math moderate the effectiveness of this intervention. The researchers used data from the Impulse study in their research.
